Opponent with a black eye
On the Vanda blog the fight posters are posted. My bout will be the first one of the night. The last two weeks we, the Hong Kong Dragons, have been training hard, mostly at DEF, a great boxing gym in Hong Kong.
Focused on hard sparring, no mercy sparring, stand still and punch back, retaliate before thinking, we all feel confident we are ready for the Singapore Lions on December 11 in Singapore for the White Collar Boxing Asia Cup 2009.
I am mentally as ready as I can be. I will not walk back like I did in my first fight. I am now really looking forward to exchange punches. Punch harder, more precise, more often. I am ready.
Except for the miss spelling of my last name, this poster looks good.
Can you imagine how Neil’s eyes will look like AFTER the fight?

Okay David,
During your last fight you showed good defensive skills which proved because you did not really get hit one single time I think and your oppononent was quite heart (judging by his face after the fight)? Your opponent though won the fight because he was the agressive and more dominant fighter.
I understand your focus on defense since your very first fight 20 years ago but I think this time you need to be a little more offensive. There is nothing wrong with walking back a little bit. Some of the greatest fighters are defensive fighters (Muhammed Ali, Remy Bonjasky e.g.). But it is also necessary to heart your opponent if possible. If walking back is necessary (because of your lack of reach e.g.) it is important to skift in the corners and nail your opponent right there (or against the ropes). I think you can be quite strong when punching from close distance when you put your bodyweight behind it and use your “strenght”.
Okay, hopefully things will work out fine 11th of dec!
